What is Sunburn?

Sunburn is actually a reaction caused by strong sunlight and excessive ultraviolet rays falling on the body. Sunburn refers to the damage caused by sunlight and UV rays. The skin of the body becomes black or red due to sunburn. Sometimes problems like burning, swelling and itching can also occur due to sunburn.

How does sunburn happen?

The body's defense system is automatically activated after being out in the sun or under UV radiation for a total of 10 minutes. The first symptom of sunburn damage is redness of the skin. It is actually the body's own way of protecting the skin from sun damage. As soon as the damage is done, the body begins to repair the skin. As a result, the blood vessels dilate.

After this the skin starts losing moisture and water rapidly. This can lead to a feeling of stretch in the skin. In no time the skin cells start coming closer and the production of melanin starts. This process is to prevent the ultra violet rays from going deep inside the skin.

By the way, let us tell you that ultraviolet rays can also damage the DNA of skin cells. If this condition persists for a long time, the patient is also at increased risk of developing skin cancer.
